The loans will finance the purchase of six merchant vessels by four Dutch shipping companies.

Detail Description

To increase foreign exchange earnings of the Netherlands economy, the country's shipping industry needs to operate profitably. The Dutch shipping loans comprise loans to four of the principle Dutch shipping companies to finance the entire purchase price of six merchant vessels, each costing $2 million, for the Dutch mercantile marine. The ships are to be converted into steam-driven cargo liners and will take advantage of the favorable ocean traffic prospects during the European Recover Program (ERP) period.
