IDA approves first credit in population sector

The Family Planning Project for Tunisia is the first population sector credit approved by IDA and only the second overall by the World Bank Group. Tunisia's family planning program, launched in 1964, provided counseling for women on the advantages of family planning and offered a wide range of health services for women, including contraceptive products. The $4.8 million credit will help expand the capacity and improve the effectiveness of Tunisia's national program.
