World Bank Group Timeline
World Bank Group implements reorganization
The primary objective of the reorganization is to cut costs and increase efficiency. As part of the reorganization, the Country Department is made the basic program and budget unit. Each department will consist of a Country Operations Division (COD), comprised of economists, as well as multiple Sectoral Operations Divisions (SOD) staffed by sector specialists. The reorganization is disruptive to staff and will take longer than anticipated to implement; a "fine tuning" exercise in 1989 will be necessary to complete the process.
