IDA approves urban development projects in Senegal and Turkey

Beginning in the 1960s, the World Bank Group considered a noticeable increase in the rate of urbanization around the globe. Two IDA credits approved in fiscal year 1972 incorporate innovative approaches to problems related to this trend. The $8 million Sites and Services Project in Senegal will provide home sites and public services for about 160,000 people in lower income brackets. A $2.3 million IDA credit to Turkey will finance the Istanbul Urban Development Project, an integrated urban development program which includes the development of high priority investment projects and the improvement of planning capabilities.
