World Bank Group provides support to Haiti following earthquake
In response to a magnitude-7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti, World Bank Group President Robert Zoellick expresses his sympathy for those affected and announces that the Bank is mobilizing resources to help the country respond to the catastrophe. The Bank will immediately undertake a large-scale needs assessment, followed by the funding of an emergency recovery project and the forgiveness of all remaining debt to IDA.
