Paul D. Wolfowitz becomes World Bank Group President

Paul D. Wolfowitz will make Africa a primary focus during his tenure as World Bank Group president. The Bank's Africa Action Plan (AAP) will call for increased investment and outlins 25 initiatives to be led by African countries. Wolfowitz will continue his predecessor's work on debt relief and anti-corruption. Regarding the latter, the Bank will develop a strategy on governance and anti-corruption that involves consultation with country officials and civil society. Under Wolfowitz, the Bank will also forge new ground in the areas of clean energy and renewable resources.
