World Bank Group Timeline
World Bank Group establishes Administrative Tribunal
By 1979, World Bank Group management and staff recognized that there was a need for an administrative tribunal that could facilitate a judicial review of administrative decisions affecting Bank staff. Most other multilateral institutions, including all of the United Nations agencies, already had their own tribunal performing this function. In July 1979, a statute establishing an independent World Bank Administrative Tribunal is adopted, and by May of 1980 the Board of Governors will approve it.
